The short version.

HYANS is a Hawaiʻi yacht and ship agency. We are the single local point of contact who coordinates the shore side of a port call — clearance, berthing requests, fuel, vendors, crew, provisioning, and documentation — across every Hawaiian island. We coordinate and support; the authorities and vendors make the decisions on access, approvals, and availability.

The questions below cover what most captains, managers, and operators ask before they engage us. When you are ready, request maritime support and we will confirm scope for your call.

Questions

Common questions

What does a yacht agent do in Hawaiʻi?
A yacht agent is your single local point of contact for a port call. HYANS coordinates clearance with the authorities, requests berthing, arranges fuel, provisioning, and technical vendors, handles crew logistics, and keeps the documentation and billing organized — so the captain and owner can focus on the vessel rather than the shore side.
Does HYANS support foreign-flag vessels?
Yes. We regularly coordinate arrivals for foreign-flag vessels and support the documentation and authority coordination a foreign-flag call involves. Final decisions on entry, clearance, and inspections rest with CBP, USDA/APHIS, the Coast Guard, and Port State Control — we prepare and coordinate, they decide.
Does HYANS work with commercial vessels?
Yes. Alongside yachts, we act as ship agent for cargo, tankers, support and supply vessels, tugs, barges, and workboats — with pilots, tugs, line handlers, husbandry, and a reconcilable disbursement account. The style of support is scoped to the vessel and the call.
Can HYANS support calls on multiple islands?
Yes. We coordinate interisland itineraries across Oʻahu, Maui, Hawaiʻi Island, Kauaʻi and beyond, with one point of contact managing the whole circuit. See interisland voyage planning.
How much notice do you need?
As early as practicable. Earlier notice gives more room to coordinate berthing requests, fuel, vendors, and crew logistics. We can and do support short-notice calls, but availability of berths, fuel, and vendors always depends on conditions and third parties.
Can HYANS arrange fuel?
Yes. We coordinate diesel, gasoline, and lube oil uplifts and the associated quantity and quality documentation, dockside or by barge depending on the vessel and volume. Supply, pricing, and scheduling depend on the supplier and port conditions — we coordinate, we do not guarantee. See fuel & bunkering.
Can HYANS arrange crew changes?
Yes. We coordinate crew changes, flights, ground transport, hotels, medical referrals, and welfare for joining and departing crew. See crew services.
Does HYANS guarantee berths or regulatory approvals?
No. We request and coordinate berths, and we prepare and submit documentation, but availability, draft limits, access, clearance, and inspection outcomes are decided by the harbor authorities and government agencies. We confirm current status before arrival and propose alternatives where needed — we never guarantee an outcome that is not ours to give.
What is the client portal?
The client portal is HYANS’ access-controlled client workspace, where authorized clients share documents and instructions, message the team, and track the disbursement account for a call. It is available to authorized clients only. See secure client support.
How do I get started?
Tell us the vessel, the port, and the reason for the call. Request maritime support or work through the pre-arrival checklist first — we will confirm scope and start coordinating.

Still have a question?

Ask HYANS directly. Tell us the vessel, the port, and what you need — we will give you a straight answer and a plan.
